I went to the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow (MAMM) which is five minutes from my house, is where i get my quick fix of art and culture if i haven’t done anything in a while. They always have an eclectic mix of artists, old school, contemporary and modern. Everything from photography, fine art and prints.
So I was excited to see this months july-August 2012 exhibitions. As always was not disappointed. Here’s what’s in store for you. In case you don’t know where it is:

Nikolai Zagrekov and Russian Berlin, photographs are humorous with historic references of the time. This canvas of men at work, hmmm, can we read a lot of connotations from it, I can!
This work by OLEG DOU was so haunting, captivating, slightly scary and totally unforgettable! The project was inspired by and named after the book, «The Face of Another» by the Japanese writer Kobo Abe. The main character was depressed as his face had been damaged in a fire. One day he got a chance to obtain a new look — an artificial face of another person. It worked well in the beginning, but then the new face started to control him and changed his mind. «Another Face» has two parallel stories. The first one is something common for me — a series of large format portrait photographs. The faces are covered with paper and drawings. The second story is a series of pseudo-documentary photographs he made using pictures of myself from a family album. Its really just incredible work!
Bryan Adams the Canadian musician also featured some of his work there titled “EXPOSED”. i didn’t know that he was also photographer. But there you go, he is! Apparently in the late nineties Bryan Adams became curious about making photographic self-portraits for his album covers, and so chose to pick up the camera himself. That serendipitous decision was the beginning of a successful photographic career. Exposed is a retrospective of Adams’ photography and features portraits of friends and colleagues in the entertainment, fashion and art industries, including Morrissey, Ben Kingsley, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Louise Bourgeois, Lindsay Lohan and Judi Dench. My favourite one is this one of Victoria Beckham. I’m not a fan of hers, but i think she rocks it in this shot.
Nikolai Zagrekov, this is so 2012 and this was from the great 30’s.
Ria-Novosti together with other news agencies put together a 186 days of the then “President Medvedev”. It was sort of the behind the scenes of a life of a president.Pictures of him taking pictures on his trips of other dignitaries and him at work. i thought from a journalistic point of view it was great, the pics weren’t anything special but they are a mosaic of his presidency which sometimes one overlooks when reading the papers. You sometimes miss that great pic that says a thousands things. worth a visit.
