After my initial trials in march I was approved to go on the desk and have been anchoring now since May, so you’ll be seeing more of me on the desk working nights and mornings. That’s why I have no life. Just thought to share these:)

GLITZ AND GLAM VIENNA BALL
After spending an entire day looking for a gown for this years Vienna Ball Moscow which was held at the Moscow’s Manege Exhibition Hall, I was happy to know that I made the right dress choice (couldn’t get the right size,colour or they were just awful looking gowns). This year was the 10th edition of the Vienna ball and theme was a tribute to the bicentenary of the Patriotic War of 1812 against Napoleon.

In one of my shoots for work, I was lucky enough to visit a secluded cultural village outside of Moscow city, close to Keluga, where fortune tellers still share their secrets to young Russian women on how to get a man. An interesting tradition and being in Russia, witnessing the desire of so many women wanting to get married, it’s not surprise how this practice has become popular once again. Also i’m wearing a traditional Russian maiden outfit, i think i rock it, African style.

I had my first taste of Russian culinary expedition in the office. What was on the menu, Ossetian pies! Ossetian pies are large round pastries, filled with meat, cheese, potatoes or greens and very popular in Russia’s Caucasus region. They are apparently their answer to the ubiquitous pizza. (Not sure who would want to replace pizza!).

This year my family and close friends were km away from me, however as the saying goes, birds of a feather fly together. So we, the new and old Muscovites, came together for the last big supper of the year and our wonderful hosts Lindsey and Kate my colleagues, were kind enough to invite myself and Kate (RT new recruits) for Xmas dinner. It made a huge difference and although we missed home we were not alone in the city. It did become a rather MERRY XMAS with great hosts and company.

LIGHTS – CAMERA – ACTION
Vorobyovy Gory (means Sparrow Hills in Russian), it’s basically an elevated hill, like say Signal Hill in Cape Town or Primrose Hill in London. You can see the city form up there, although rather windy, especially during winter, it does offer one of the best views of the city.
